After spending the first 15 years of his career on the Canadian Professional Chuckwagon Association (CPCA) circuit, Ryan will be making his debut on the WPCA Pro Tour as a Permit Driver in 2025. On the CPCA circuit in 2024, Ryan posted twenty-one top ten runs, including five day money runs and eight additional runs that also placed inside the top five. He won the Lloydminster CPCA Finals show, was the reserve champion at the Wainwright Stampede, and placed two wagons inside the top ten at the Days of Thunder at Little Pine. 2024 also saw Ryan in the Chuckwagon 101 demonstration at the Calgary Stampede Rangeland Derby.
Ryan has won two CPCA show championships at the CPCA Lloydminster Finals in 2024 and the Onion Lake Sports Days in 2021, and won the CPCA dash-for-cash run at the Poundmaker Cree Nation in 2021, the same year he was a finalist for the overall CPCA Championship. Ryan is a two-time winner of the CPCA’s Safe Driver Award and a two-time winner of the CPCA’s Most Improved Driver Award. He started his career as an outrider in 2004, and has won several show championships along the way.
Ryan is a second generation chuckwagon driver. His uncle is 1996 Calgary Stampede Rangeland Derby Champion Edgar Baptiste, and he is the younger brother to fellow driver Todd Baptiste. Ryan is a big game outfitter and operates the Red Pheasant Arena in the off season. Ryan and his wife Naomi have five children – Bryce, Hendrik, Seth, Ryan Jr. and Bethany, and make their home on the Red Pheasant Cree Nation in Saskatchewan.
