In just four seasons on the WPCA Pro Tour, Nolan is developing a nice resume as a top outrider. 2024 he outrode for Layne MacGillivray’s outfit that won the Richard Cosgrave Memorial Award as the Calgary Stampede Aggregate/Safety Champion and rode the Rangeland Derby’s Championship Final Heat for the first time.
Nolan has been able to outride for show winners every year since he started competing, and in just his second year Nolan won the first major event of his career in 2022 at the Ponoka Stampede outriding for Ross Knight. At year’s end he received the Rod Glass Memorial Award for being the WPCA Most Improved Outrider. , to go with the WPCA Top Rookie Outrider buckle he won in 2021.
Nolan is a graduate of the Oklahoma State Horseshoeing School and works as a farrier, a welder, and a pen rider at a feedlot when not competing on the WPCA Pro Tour. A former competitive mixed pairs figure skater, Nolan was given the opportunity to skate professionally for Disney on Ice which he ultimately declined. He enjoys hiking in the mountains, travelling, team roping, and training horses in the off season.
A native of Kennedy, Saskatchewan, Nolan is single and now makes his home in Calgary, Alberta.
