Building momentum with each season, Layne Flad delivered a career-best performance in the 2025 World Standings and is set to make his debut at the Calgary Stampede Rangeland Derby in 2026. He recorded eight top-ten runs, including two top-five finishes. Layne also earned his first career day money at the 2024 Battle of the Rockies and took part in Chuckwagon 101 at the 2024 Rangeland Derby.
Layne began his driving career in 2018 at the Western Chuckwagon Association Grande Prairie Stompede, winning day money in just his third start. A third-generation driver, he is the grandson of Herman Flad and Dwight Green, and the son of Darcy Flad. He also credits Kelly Sutherland for helping him get started.
Away from the track, Layne enjoys playing and officiating hockey and was the recipient of Hockey Alberta’s Ron Centazzo Memorial Award. In the off-season, he works as a mechanical engineering intern with Roska DBO Inc. in Grande Prairie, and resides in Bodo, Alberta.
