One of the most exceptional drivers in professional chuckwagon today, Kris was the 2022 Calgary Stampede COWBOYS Rangeland Derby Champion. The 2023 season saw Kris post 24 top ten runs, including three first place runs and twelve other runs that also placed inside the top five. He qualified for the championship final heat at the Ponoka Stampede, was a semi-finalist at the Batlle of the Foothills, and for the second consecutive year, have a horse named to the WPCA Equine Outfit of Excellence.
In just three full seasons on the WPCA Pro Tour, Kris has won four show championships, had his second horse named to the Calgary Stampede Equine Athlete of Excellence, and has placed in the top ten in the World Standings all three years, with two of those years inside the top five.
Prior to joining the WPCA, Kris enjoyed a very prosperous career on the CPCA circuit where, in just 9 seasons, he won 12 CPCA show championships, was the CPCA High Point Driver in 2018, and qualified for the championship final heat for the CPCA Championship five consecutive years. Kris was the CPCA’s Top Rookie Driver in 2011, the CPCA’s Most Improved Driver in 2012, and was the recipient of the CPCA Family of the Year in 2011. Kris won the Orville Strandquist Memorial Award as the Calgary Stampede’s Top Rookie Driver in 2014, in 2018 his horse “IKE was named Champion Left Leader on the Calgary Stampede’s Equine Outfit of Excellence, and he ended the year as the CPCA’s High Point Driver.
A certified farrier and equine dentist, Kris’ off-season interests include hockey, hunting and horses, and works as Lead Operator for Repsol Oil & Gas Canada. Kris and his wife Wendy have 2 children – WPCA Outrider Kaeden and CPRA Barrel Racer Blake – and make their home in Chauvin, Alberta.
