One of chuckwagon racing’s top competitors, Evan Salmond turned in a strong 2025 season, earning the WPCA Clean Driver Award as the least-penalized driver on the Pro Tour. He has won major events including the Medicine Hat Stampede, Grande Prairie Stompede, and the Dewberry World Chuckwagon Races, and has had four horses named to the WPCA Equine Outfit of Excellence.
In 2025, Salmond recorded 26 top-ten runs, including eight top-five runs, finished inside the top ten overall at seven shows, and qualified for the Championship Final Heat at both the Ponoka and Strathmore Stampedes. He began his professional career in 2008 on the Western Chuckwagon Association (WCA) circuit, earning a win at the Rycroft Chuckwagon Races and Most Improved Driver honours in 2009.
A second-generation driver, he comes from a racing family that includes Ray, Rod, and Wade Salmond. Off the track, Salmond is a harness maker who works in forestry. He and his wife Adriane have two children – Rose and Cash – and live in Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan.
