A very personable individual, Evan was the sale topper at both the Ponoka Stampede Chuckwagon Canvas Auction and at the Century Downs Chuckwagon Canvas Auction in 2023. He posted five top ten runs in 2023, with a second place run that almost held up as the track record at the Century Downs World Chuckwagon Finals being his best of the year.
Evan started his career with the Canadian Professional Chuckwagon Association (CPCA) in 2003 as an outrider for his father, former driver Elton Magee, and drove his first race on the CPCA circuit at Dewberry in 2008. He spent 2 seasons with the Western Chuckwagon Association (WCA) in 2013 and 2014 where he won his first career day money at the WCA’s Grande Prairie Stompede. Evan returned to the CPCA the following year and in 2016 he was part of the winning team that won the CPCA’s “Canada Cup.”
Evan is a third generation chuckwagon driver whose grandfather Les O’Donnell and great-uncle Fred O’Donnell raced chuckwagons throughout Saskatchewan in the 1960’s. His father Elton Magee drove chuckwagons professionally and competed at the Calgary Stampede 3 times in the 1980’s. Evan credits his father, and drivers Kevin Baird, Brian Laboucane, Todd Baptiste and Rick Fraser as being the ones who helped him the most throughout his career.
Evan enjoys NFL Football, building chuckwagons, and owns and operates Saskatoon Mobile Repair offering mobile Heavy Duty Mechanical services. Evan and his wife Allison have two children – Kody and Aaliyah – and make their home in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
