A proven force on the WPCA Pro Tour, Doug has excelled as both a championship chuckwagon driver and elite outrider. He has won five WPCA show championships, including wins at the Ponoka and Grande Prairie Stampedes, and nearly captured the 2012 Calgary Stampede Rangeland Derby Final — missing by just one one-hundredth of a second, the closest finish in the event’s history.
The 2025 season saw Doug record sixteen top-ten runs, including a day-money run at the Teepee Creek Stampede and seven additional runs inside the top five. He was runner-up at the Teepee Creek Stampede and had two other top-ten overall aggregate finishes on the year.
As a driver, he earned the 2015 Herman Flad Memorial Award and the 2006 Clean Drive Award, with two horses named to the WPCA Equine Outfit of Excellence. As an outrider, he has been part of multiple Rangeland Derby, Aggregate, and Ponoka Stampede championship outfits.
Doug began on the CPCA circuit, was Rookie Outrider (1993), Outrider Champion (1997), and Rookie Driver (1998). He lives near Bonnyville, Alberta, with his wife Jimmi Lou and their three children — Dacia, Britton, and Maddi Jo —, and works as a truck driver in the off-season.
