Get to Know More About the Driver

A fan favourite and respected veteran on the WPCA Pro Tour, Darcy Flad added another solid chapter to his career in 2025. His season was highlighted by having a horse named to the Calgary Stampede Equine Athlete of Excellence for the second time in three years. A day money run at the Battle of the Rockies, along with eight top-five runs among sixteen top-ten finishes, were also key highlights.

Darcy is a two-time Colonial Days Fair champion and three-time aggregate winner. He is a past recipient of the WPCA Top Rookie Driver and Most Improved Driver awards, and now has two horses recognized with Equine Athlete of Excellence honours. He is the eldest son of former Calgary Stampede Rangeland Derby champion Herman Flad, and the father of fellow driver Layne Flad.

A rancher in the off-season, Darcy is a graduate of Olds College. He and his wife Richelle have two children, Layne and Cheyenne-Jill, and reside in Bodo, Alberta. Hockey, rodeo, team roping, and hunting rank among his favourite pastimes.
