Get to Know More About the Driver

Fresh off his WPCA Top Rookie Driver title in 2024, Dale carried that momentum into an impressive sophomore campaign in 2025, spending the majority of the season on the Canadian Professional Chuckwagon Association (CPCA) circuit. He recorded 16 top-ten runs, including two first place runs and seven additional top-five runs. He set a track record at the Beardy’s & Okemasis Sports Days and qualified for his first CPCA Dash-for-Cash at the Kelvington race meet. He had top ten overall finishes at five shows on the 2025 CPCA circuit. His season was further highlighted by a horse being named to the CPCA Equine Outfit of Excellence, while his family was honoured as CPCA Family of the Year.

Prior to moving into thoroughbred chuckwagons in 2024, Dale enjoyed a successful 30-year career in pony chuckwagon racing. A second-generation driver, he is a cousin to fellow drivers Evan and Wade Salmond, and his father, Bryce, serves as a chuckwagon judge at the Calgary Stampede.

Away from the track, Dale is a rancher and owner of Y Express Ltd., a trucking company. He enjoys playing guitar and watching his kids compete in sports. Dale and his wife Lindsay live in Sundre, Alberta, with their two children, Taya and Daxton.
