After a successful 30 year career driving pony chuckwagons. Dale made the full time jump to the thoroughbred chuckwagons in 2024, and was named the 2024 WPCA Top Rookie Driver. Dale made his driving debut at the Grande Prairie Stompede. He started his career off by winning his heat in his first race on the WPCA Pro Tour, and finished his inaugural show in 21st in the overall aggregate standings – his best finish on the 2024 season. Dale won additional heats at the Bonnyville Chuckwagon Championship, Strathmore Stampede and the Battle of the Rockies where he completed his first season on the WPCA Pro Tour.
A second generation chuckwagon driver, Dale is a cousin to fellow drivers Evan and Wade Salmond, and his father Bryce is a chuckwagon judge for the Calgary Stampede. Dale started driving pony chuckwagons when he was just 15, and has has competed annually for the last 30 years. He won nearly 10 show championships, with his most prestigious win coming at the Ponoka Stampede.
Dale is a rancher and is the owner of a trucking company called Y Express Ltd. he enjoys playing guitar and watching his kids play sports. Dale and his wife Lindsay have two chidren – Taya and Daxton – and make their home in Sundre, Alberta.
