2025 marked D.J.’s first full season on the WPCA Pro Tour and his Calgary Stampede debut, where he earned the Orville Strandquist Memorial Award as Top Rookie Driver. He posted eight top-ten runs, including three top-five runs, highlighted by a top-ten aggregate at the Ponoka Stampede.
D.J. began his career in 2014 on the Western Chuckwagon Association (WCA) circuit under his uncle Daniel King, moved to the CPCA in 2015, and was named CPCA Top Rookie Driver. He has three CPCA show championships, two CPCA Safe Driver Awards, and has earned the CPCA’s Roy Bremner Memorial Award, CPCA Family of the Year, and the CPCA’s Bruce Bremner Memorial Award.
Before racing chuckwagons, D.J. spent six seasons in the NHL with the St. Louis Blues and Washington Capitals. He is co-owner of Tawaw Cabins, a resort located in Waterhen Lake, Saskatchewan, and enjoys hockey, fishing, hunting and golfing in his spare time. D.J. and his partner Chantal have two sons – Jacob and Drew, and make their home in Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan.
