Get to Know More About the Driver

Chuckwagon racing’s first fifth-generation driver, Cruise will make his Calgary Stampede Rangeland Derby debut in 2026. The 2025 season marked a breakthrough, with 15 top-ten runs, including three top-five runs, and a berth in the Championship Final Heat at the Battle of the Foothills. He also recorded three additional top-ten overall finishes on the WPCA Pro Tour to secure his first career top-ten finish in the World Standings.

In 2024, Cruise became the youngest winner of the WPCA Clean Driver Award, earned the Herman Flad Memorial Award as Most Improved Driver, and was named Most Sportsmanlike Driver at the Battle of the North in Dawson Creek.

A fifth-generation competitor, he comes from a storied chuckwagon family that includes grandfather Buddy Bensmiller and uncles Kurt, Chance, and Dave. He debuted as a driver in 2020 and, away from racing, works in the film industry while living in Dewberry, Alberta.
