A talented and well liked young driver, Chance made his Calgary Stampede debut as a chuckwagon driver in 2024, winning his heat for the first time on night two. The 2024 season also saw Chance post six top-ten runs, with a third place run at the Strathmore Stampede being his best of the year.
2022 was a breakout year for Chance when he qualified for his first career championship final heat at the Bonnyville Chuckwagon Championship after placing first in the overall aggregate standings. He was the WPCA’s Top Rookie Driver in 2019, and in 2016 became just the third outrider to have twice won chuckwagon racing’s modern day “Triple Crown” in a single season by capturing the Ponoka Stampede, Calgary Stampede Aggregate and the COWBOYS Rangeland Derby.
Chance has won three World Outriding Titles, five Ponoka Stampede championships, five Calgary Stampede Aggregate buckles, and four Calgary Stampede COWBOYS Rangeland Derby championships. He received the Rod Glass Memorial Award for most improved outrider in 2009, was the WPCA Top Rookie Outrider in 2008, and received the Calgary Stampede’s Outstanding Outrider Award in 2013.
Chance is the great-nephew of former driver the late Herman Flad, and cousin to drivers Troy and Darcy Flad, and older brother to former outrider Cole Flad. Chance and Brittany have a son Wylder, and make their home in Arrowwood, Alberta.
