It was a warm 24°C on the Poundmaker Cree Nation near Cut Knife, Saskatchewan, as the finals of the 2026 Poundmaker Days Chuckwagon Classic wrapped up on Monday evening. When the racing was complete, it was Colby Stanley, driving the Lexcom outfit, along with outriders Jory Bronken and Tiegan Larouche, who emerged as champions after winning a highly competitive Championship Final Heat.
Starting from barrel position one in the eighth heat, Stanley posted the fastest time of the entire race meet with a run of 1:13.73, defeating Doug Irvine, who raced from barrel position three, by 76 one-hundredths of a second. Luke Tournier crossed the finish line first from barrel position two, but a two-second penalty dropped him back to third. The victory marked the first show championship of Stanley’s chuckwagon driving career after winning the 2025 CPCA Championship.
Following heavy rainfall, Day 2 of the Poundmaker Days Chuckwagon Classic was cancelled, forcing the event to be shortened to a two-day aggregate to determine the three qualifiers for the Championship Final Heat. Stanley earned the top qualifying position with the best two-day aggregate time of 2:29.96. Doug Irvine qualified second, 1.65 seconds behind Stanley, while Luke Tournier moved up from fourth to claim the third and final Championship Final berth. Calvin Fiddler, who was looking to qualify for the first Championship Final Heat of his career, missed advancing by just seven one-hundredths of a second, while Brad McMann rounded out the top five in the aggregate standings.
Stanley’s championship-winning run was also his second first-place finish of the event after capturing top honours on Day 3. Doug Irvine recorded the fastest time on opening night. The competition featured 21 drivers, with three drivers entering two chuckwagons each, while the remaining 18 competitors raced a single outfit.

The Poundmaker Days Chuckwagon Classic is operated independently by the Poundmaker Cree Nation and features drivers from both the World Professional Chuckwagon Association (WPCA) and the Canadian Professional Chuckwagon Association (CPCA) who are not competing at the 2026 Calgary Stampede Rangeland Derby. No points earned at the event count toward either association’s championship standings.
The focus now shifts back to the WPCA Pro Tour as drivers not competing at the Calgary Stampede Rangeland Derby continue their season at the Teepee Creek Stampede, July 10–12, 2026.
