Night three of the Grande Prairie Stompede was another excellent night of chuckwagon races. Once again, racetrack conditions were excellent, and when the nightly times were calculated, it was defending champion Chanse Vigen who was the fast man with a penalty free run of 1:16.78.
Coming off barrel number 1 in heat number 10, Vigen, driving the Sundown Oilfield Services Ltd. outfit placed first overall for the day by a 63 one-hundredths of a second over Preston Faithful who had to settle for second place the night. Jason Glass placed third, with Mitch Sutherland and Ross Knight rounding out the top five on beautiful Friday night.
After three runs, Chad Fike and his TOMCO Group of Companies outfit continue to lead the overall aggregate standings at the Grande Prairie Stompede with a three day total of 3:55.21. That puts him just 93 one hundredths of a second ahead of Jason Glass who sits second. Jamie Laboucane continues to hang on to third place overall, with Wade Salmond currently holding down fourth place overall. With one run to go to try to make the top four, Rae Croteau Jr. sits just outside in fifth place overall 22 one-hundredths of a second out of the fourth and final qualifying spot for Sunday’s Championship Final.
The top wagon in the aggregate after Saturday’s run will receive the Ralph Vigen Memorial Award and the use of a new GMC Truck for one year courtesy of Summit Fleet.
