It was a warm and cloudy Friday night with some light rain at the Ponoka Stampede, as night two was once again run off in front of a capacity crowd. Despite weather conditions being a bit off, for the second consecutive day the racetrack conditions were excellent, and some thrilling races were watched by the Ponoka chuckwagon fans. When the night was wrapped up, it was Chanse Vigen who, for the second consecutive night, posted the Alberta AG Centre Fast Time of the Night with a 1:14.18.
Coming off barrel number 1 in the 4th heat, Vigen – driving the McWilliam Automotive & CBI Solar outfit – placed first on the night by another large 1.18 second margin over Jamie Laboucane. Mitch Sutherland and Kurt Bensmiller followed in third and fourth place respectively, with Josh Hrynyk rounding out the top five on the night.
With two Alberta AG Centre Fast Times of the Night, Chanse Vigen has a commanding lead in the overall aggregate standings. Vigens two-run total of 2:25.93 puts him 4.01 seconds ahead of Jamie Laboucane, with Kurt Bensmiller, D.J. King and Mitch Sutherland inside the top five. Cruise Bensmiller, Obrey Motowylo and Chad Fike complete the top 8, with Layne MacGillivray and Doug Irvine just on the outside looking in.
