Chanse Vigen –Second Consecutive Day Money Run On Night Three In Grande Prairie

It was a warm summer evening in Grande Prairie on Friday night for day 3 of the Grande Prairie Stompede, and the large crowd was treated to some fine chuckwagon races. For the second consecutive night, Chanse Vigen emerged as the day money winner, posting the fast time of the race meet so far with a run of 1:15.31.
From barrel number 4 in heat number 9, Vigen, driving the Sundown Oilfield Services Ltd. outfit placed first overall for the day by another large 1.44 second margin over Chad Fike. Jamie Laboucane was third, Vern Nolin, even with a one-second outrider penalty placed fourth, and Chance Thomson completed the top five on the night.
With just one run left to try to get into the top four and Sunday’s Championship Final Heat, Chanse Vigen has now taken over top spot in the aggregate Standings with a three-run total of 3:53.71. That puts him 1.1 seconds in front of Chad Fike in second place overall, with Jason Glass and Vern Nolin completing the top four after three days. Evan Salmond sits on the outside in fifth place overall, just 20 one-hundredths of a second outside the top four.
The top 4 drivers in the aggregate after Saturday night will go into the $35,000.00 Championship Final Heat on Sunday where the winner will receive a big winner’s cheque and the Grande Prairie Stompede Championship. The top wagon in the aggregate after Saturday’s run will receive the Ralph Vigen Memorial Award and the use of a new GMC Truck for one year compliments of Summit Fleet and the Grande Prairie Stompede
