Top 4 qualify for the Century Downs “Winners’ Zone” Series Championship Final Heat.

Night two of the Wild West WPCA World Chuckwagon Finals was run under a few clouds and very good racetrack conditions. Some outstanding races were once again witnessed by a packed grandstand, and when the sun set on the Ponoka Stampede grounds, Jamie Laboucane is the man sitting on top.

A day money run on opening night combined with a second place run tonight has given Laboucane the lead in the Century Downs “Winners’ Zone” Series Playoff round with 23 playoff points after two runs. That puts him 2 points ahead of Chanse Vigen who sits alone in second place. Reigning Calgary Stampede Champion Jason Glass is third, Rae Croteau Jr. is in fourth, with Wade Salmond in fifth. The 4 drivers in the playoff points standings after Sunday night will compete in the Century Downs “Winners’ Zone” Series Championship Final Heat on Monday afternoon where they will be racing for $50,000.00 cash and the prestige of being recognized as the Century Downs “Winners’ Zone” Series Champion.

On the night, Chanse Vigen and his Sundown Oilfield Services Ltd. outfit grabbed the top time after posting a 1:14.43 from barrel 2 in heat number 9. That was 2 one-hundredths of a second faster than Jamie Laboucane, followed closely by Wade Salmond in third, while Jason Glass and Kirk Sutherland placed fourth and fifth on the night respectively.
