Rae Croteau Jr. – Day Money Run Vaults Him Into Monday’s Championship Final In Strathmore

It was a warm and cloudy Sunday night, with excellent race track conditions for day 3 of the Strathmore Stampede. It was the final night for the drivers to try and qualify for the championship final heat on Monday afternoon. When the evening was complete, Chanse Vigen, Rae Croteau Jr., Jamie Laboucane and Kurt Bensmiller will be the four drivers bidding for the 2024 Strathmore Stampede Championship in the $25,000.00 Championship Final Heat.
A second place run on the night kept Chanse Vigen atop of the overall aggregate standings with a three-day combined time of 3:39.13, followed by Rae Croteau Jr. who at the start of the day was on the outside looking in moved up from fifth place into second place overall, 3.94 seconds behind the aggregate leader Vigen. Jamie Laboucane slipped one spot into third, with Kurt Bensmiller also jumping up from sixth place overall into the fourth and final qualifying spot in Sunday’s final. Wade Salmond ended up in the crying hole, 77 one-hundredths of a second from a spot in Monday’s final.
As far as day results are concerned, Rae Croteau Jr. had the fast time of the night after posting a 1:12.85 from barrel 4 in the 9th heat. Croteau Jr.’s Cinch Oilfield Hauling & Cranes Ltd. outfit won the day money by a half-second over Chanse Vigen, with Preston Faithful placing third, Kris Molle placing fourth and Wade Salmond rounding out the top five on the night.
