Chanse Vigen – Day Money Run On Night Three In Bonnyville

Saturday night in Bonnyville was the last chance for drivers to secure a spot in Sunday’s Championship Final Heat and a shot at the 2023 Bonnyville Chuckwagon Championship. It was a windy but hot 26°C under mostly sunny skies, and the races were run under perfect racetrack conditions. When the night wrapped up, Obrey Motowylo, Rae Croteau Jr., Layne MacGillivray and Mitch Sutherland will be the four drivers who will compete in Sunday’s Championship Final heat.
Obrey Motowylo, driving the Choquet Insurance Group Ltd – The Co-operators outfit, has been in top spot from opening night and held onto top spot with a 3 day combined time of 3:52.99. Local hero Rae Croteau Jr. grabbed second place overall, Layne MacGillivray jumped from six place at the start of the day and qualified in third place overall, with Mitch Sutherland sneaking in to grab the 4th and final spot for Sunday’s final after starting the day in eighth place overall. Codey McCurrach, who had been in fourth overall to start the day, ended up in 5th place overall just 1 one-hundredth of a second out of the final qualifying spot for Sunday’s Championship Final Heat..
As far as the day results are concerned, Chance Vigen, driving the Kudo Energy outfit, was the day money winner for the night after posting a time of the week with a 1:16.52. Coming off barrel number 4 in heat number 10, Vigen posted the top time of the night by 1.16 seconds over Layne MaGillivray who placed second on the day. Dustin Gorst grabbed third place on the night with Rae Croteau Jr. and Vern Nolin filling out the top five times for night number three.
