The Foothills and Rocky Mountains will be the backdrop for 6 nights of racing when the WPCA Pro Tour presented by GMC returns to High River in 2023.

The World Professional Chuckwagon Association recently signed an agreement with the High River Agricultural Society (HRAS) that will bring fans the up close action of the WPCA Pro Tour over 2 weekends.

The 6 day championship follows the 2021 format when the WPCA and the HRAS worked together to put on races during a shortened season due to Covid-19.

The first weekend in High River this year is scheduled for July 21 – July 23 with the 2nd weekend scheduled for July 28 – July 30.  The top 8 drivers after the first 4 days of racing will qualify for Semi Final Saturday. The 4 fastest drivers will advance to the championship dash on Sunday July 30.

The seating in High River puts fans right in front of the action and the grandstand erupts when the Wagons round the 4th turn and the equine champions charge down the homestretch.

“We love coming to High River to watch the races” a fan expressed in 2022 when asked what he liked about the WPCA   “The energy is unreal and it’s a competition that always has a result.”

In 2021, vehicles were backed up to the highway waiting to get into the parking lot and 5 of the 6 nights were sold out. The start of the first race was intentionally delayed to allow the line up of fans the time necessary to get in their seats and not miss a race.

Follow the WPCA on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for instant updates as they become available.
