Bidders who missed out on winning the bidding on a driver at the Calgary Stampede Rangeland Derby Tarp Auction last Thursday still have the opportunity to get in the race on a chuckwagon tarp during the WPCA World Finals in August.
Century Downs Racetrack and Casino will be holding their first ever WPCA World Finals Tarp Auction Friday April 21, 2023 in the Homestretch Room at the casino.
36 drivers will be up for bid including 3 Wild Card drivers. The 3 Wild Card drivers will be the permit drivers with the most points among permit drivers after the WPCA races in Rocky Mountain House.
In 2022, the Ponoka Stampede auctioned off 34 drivers and 2 Wild Card spots. Those 2 drivers turned out to be Ross Knight and Rae Croteau Jr. Ross eventually won the Ponoka Stampede and finished 12th in the World Standings while Rae Croteau Jr won the Battle of the Foothills in High River and finished #5 overall.
