The Calgary Stampede Rangeland Derby Champion will be awarded a new GMC truck in 2022 along with $50,000.00. To achieve this feat, the future champion will be competing against 26 other wagons under a new format.
With the change from 4 wagons per race over 10 days down to 3 wagons per race, a new format has been created to determine who qualifies for the Calgary Stampede Rangeland Derby Championship Dash.
The new format is broken down into 3 rounds. ROUND 1 (July 8 – July 10), ROUND 2 (July 11 – July 13) and ROUND 3 (July 14 – July 16).
The 27 wagons racing at the 2022 Calgary Stampede Rangeland Derby will be re-seeded after Day 3 of racing and matched up in heats based on total running time (excluding penalties) for the first three days. The 27 wagons will then be re-seeded again after Day 6 of racing and matched up in heats based on total running time (excluding penalties) for the first six days.
The three fastest wagons based on total aggregate time (including any/all incurred penalties) over the first nine nights of racing will qualify for the Final Dash. The winner of the dash will be declared the Rangeland Derby Champion and awarded a new GMC Truck along with $50,000.00. The 2nd place driver in the dash will receive $20,000.00 while the 3rd place driver will receive $10,000.00.
OVER $1M PAYOUT
