Personal Information
A third generation chuckwagon driver, Jason was the recipient of the WPCA's Most Improved Driver Award in 2005 and received the UFA Community Ambassador Award at the Badlands Dinosaur Derby in Drumheller which was given to the driver who best promotes the individual show and the sport of chuckwagon racing in its local community in 2005 as well. A fifth place run at the 2012 Grande Prairie Stompede was his best of the year. He regained his spot on the 2013 WPCA Pro Tour through the at the Qualification Run-Off in his hometown of Bashaw last fall. He just missed qualifying for his first career winner–take–all final by 94 one-hundreds of a second at the 2010 Ponoka Stampede, and competed in his lone Calgary Stampede Rangeland Derby Championship in 2006. He is a 3rd generation chuckwagon driver whose great uncles are the famous Lyster family and his father is champion chuckwagon driver Reg Johnstone. Jason has a girlfriend Laura who helps him with his horses, and enjoys football and baseball.
