Personal Information
Léo Tournier wrapped up his chuckwagon career at the 2010 Calgary Stampede GMC Rangeland Derby. In his seven year career on the WPCA Dodge Pro Tour, Léo won one of chuckwagon racing's richest events at Edmonton’s Chuckwagon Derby in 2007 collecting the $50,000.00 winners cheque and he received the WPCA’s Most Improved Chuckwagon Outfit Award that same year.  He qualified for four winner-take-all championship final heats at some of the WPCA's most prestigious events at Edmonton’s Chuckwagon Derby (which he won), the Ponoka Stampede, the Battle of the North in Dawson Creek and the WPCA Dodge Pro Tour Championship in Strathmore. He set a new track record at the Bonnyville Chuckwagon Championship in 2009 and had a horse named to the WPCA's Equine Outfit of Excellence for three consecutive years.  Léo spent the first several years of his career on the CPCA circuit where he won two CPCA show championships at the Melfort and Dewberry Chuckwagon Championships, and was a finalist for the sudden death CPCA Championship Dash in 1997. The Ty Tournier Award is named after his late son. Léo works as a professional truck driver in the off season, and along with his wife Kim and daughter Shailin, make their home in Duck Lake, Saskatchewan.
