Personal Information
A 3rd generation chuckwagon driver, Layne enters his rookie season on the WPCA Pro Tour. 2018 saw Layne drive the first show of his career at the Grande Prairie Stompede on the amateur Western Chuckwagon Association (WCA) circuit, and he won day money in just his third run as chuckwagon driver. He placed a very respectable 14th overall in the season standings after running just two shows at Grane Prairie and Dawson Creek. Layne is the grandson of former Calgary Stampede GMC Rangeland Derby Champion Herman Flad, and former driver Dwight Green, and the son of current driver Darcy Flad. He credits his father and the great Kelly Sutherland for helping him get started in the chuckwagon business. He enjoys playing and oficiating hockey, and received the Ron Centazzo Memorial Award from Hockey Alberta for going above and beyond to make a difference within his hockey community. An honor student at St. Thomas Aquinas High School, Layne will attending the University of Saskatchewan in the fall majoring in engineering. Layne is a farmer and rancher in the off season, is single, and makes his home in Bodo, Alberta.
