Personal Information
After a successful 14 year career as a full time outrider, Dustin is now embarking on a career as a full time chuckwagon driver. He just completed his most successful season on the WPCA Pro Tour, winning the WPCA Clean Drive Award and being invited to compete at the Calgary Stampede GMC Rangeland Derby as a chuckwagon driver for the first time in 2017. The 2016 season saw Dustin post 5 top ten runs, with a fourth place run at the Ashley Richards Memorial Presented By Dakota Dunes Casino being his top run on the season. Top ten overall aggregate finishes at the Ashley Richards Memorial Presented By Dakota Dunes Casino and the Medicine Hat Stampede were his best of the year. Dustin was named the 2015 WPCA Top Rookie Driver and qualified for his first championship final heat appearance at the Battle of the Rockies in his rookie season. As an outrider, Dustin outrode for Luke Tournier's 2005 Calgary Stampede Rangeland Derby Championship outfit, two Calgary Stampede Aggregate winners, and twice has been honored with the Calgary Stampede's Outstanding Outrider Award.  He was co-owner of the outriding horse “Smiles” that was named to the Calgary Stampede’s inaugural Equine Outfit of Excellence in 2012. Dustin started his chuckwagon career as an outrider on the Canadian Professional Chuckwagon Association (CPCA) circuit and was the CPCA's Champion Outrider three times, received the CPCA Media Award in 2009 and the CPCA's Youth Achievement Award in 1999. A third generation chuckwagon competitor, Dustin is the grandson of former driver Art Gorst, son of current driver Gary Gorst, brother to driver Logan Gorst, and cousin to fellow driver Layne Bremner. Dustin played two seasons with the Lloydminster Bobcats of the AJHL and currently plays hockey for the Meadow Lake Stampeders who won the 2008 Saskatchewan Senior A Provincial Championship. Dustin and his wife Jaycee, the 2015 recipient of the Ty Tournier Memorial Award, have a baby boy Klinch Dustin and make their home in Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan.
