WPCA Mourns The Loss Of Rodeo And Chuckwagon Active Supporter Harris Dvorkin
April 10, 1941 – April 14, 2017
The World Professional Chuckwagon Association was saddened by passing of rodeo and chuckwagon active supporter Harris Dvorkin on Friday, April 14, 2017 after a lengthly illness at the age of 76 years.
Harris, together with his partner, Kevin R. Baker, owned and operated the legendary country resstaurant and nightclub Ranchman's Cookhouse & Dancehall Inc. since April, 1972 – unheard of for a nightclub to enjoy a life span of four-and-a-half decades. Harris was co-founder of the Ranchman's Renegades Inc., which produces three PBR professional bull ridings at Ranchman's yearly supporting such charities as Project Warmth Society, Alberta Champions Society and the Sheldon Kennedy Child Advocacy Centre.
Harris and The Ranchman's were proud chuckwagon sponsors starting back in the late 1970's with Ward Willard, and as recently as 2014. Over the years the Ranchman's sponsored nearly ten different chuckwagon drivers.
Harris is survived by his wife Lynette Lucas- Dvorkin; daughter Michelle (Missy) McDonald (Kim) and granddaughters Sarah and Nicole McDonald; son David Abraham Dvorkin (Deb) and grandson Dexx Sproule (Sara) and step-granddaughters Jenelle Morad (Tareq), Journey and Javeline Pfeiffer; son Kai Dvorkin; daughter Korina Dvorkin (Victor) and granddaughters Victoria, Katherine, Violet and Lydia Dvorkin; adopted daughter Twylla Tyson and granddaughter Adelita Bell (Hunter); stepsons Truman Henry McIntyre (Julie) and family; Curt McIntyre (Karri) and family; his sister Giselle Mazier and niece Annabella and nephew Esteban Mazier, Ranchman's Cookhouse & Dancehall Inc. family and fur babies Luckas and Myra.
Services will be held at the Beth Tzedec Synagogue at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 20, 1325 Glenmore Trail S.W., Calgary. Interment to follow at the Erlton Street Cemetery (Erlton and 32 Ave S.W.). In keeping with the Jewish faith, please no flowers, but rather make a donation in his name to your favorite charity. Chevra Kadisha of Calgary 403-244-4717.
Harris will be missed by all in the WPCA, and we extend our sincere condolences to the Dvorkin family.
