It was an eventful night three at the inaugural Century Downs World Chuckwagon Finals in Rocky View, Alberta. With over $300,000.00 in cash and prized on the line over the 5-day event, hearts are pounding as 12 drivers are trying to make the Century Downs "Winners' Zone" Championship Final on Sunday afternoon. When the night wrapped up, Jordie Fike has now taken the lead in the Century Downs "Winners' Zone" Playoff Round.

After three solid runs, Fike finds himself in first place in the Century Downs "Winners' Zone" Championship Playoff round with 28 playoff points after three runs. That puts him a single point ahead of Ross Knight who sits alone in second place. Layne MacGillivray slipped to third place overall, while Chanse Vigen, who had a commanding lead after two runs, tipped a barrel and dropped to fourth place overall. Mark Sutherland, Kurt Bensmiller and Luke Tournier are all tied for fifth overall, just two points behind Chanse Vigen for the final spot in Sunday’s Century Downs "Winners' Zone" Championship Dash where they will be racing for $50,000.00 cash, a horse trailer valued at over $30,000.00, and the prestige of being recognized as the inaugural Century Downs "Winners' Zone" Champion.

For the third consecutive night the track record has fallen, this time to Chad Harden. Harden’s MLT Aikens LLP outfit posted a 1:22.59 from barrel 4 in heat number 3. That was 67 one-hundredths of a second faster than injured driver Mitch Sutherland’s outfit which is being driven by his father Kirk Sutherland. Rookie drivers Wade Salmond and Chance Flad placed third and fourth respectively, with veteran driver Gary Gorst filling out the top five on the night.

For the 36 drivers who are racing for the Aggregate Championship at the Century Downs World Chuckwagon Finals, Chad Harden now leads the overall aggregate standing with a three-run total of 4:10.52. That puts him 1.62 seconds ahead of Chance Flad, with Roger Moore, Jordie Fike and Troy Flad filling out the top five. The driver posting the best 4-day aggregate time after Saturday’s run will be the Century Downs Racetrack and Casino Aggregate Winner

In the race for the World Chuckwagon Championship, Vern Nolin, in search of his first career World Chuckwagon Championship, has just a 12-point lead over 3 time and reigning World Champion Kurt Bensmiller. There is currently a 12-point spread in the aggregate between the two drivers in favor of Bensmiller, so the World Chuckwagon Championship will come down to the final night.
