It was a windy Saturday evening at Prairieland Park in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan for the third day of the Saskatoon World Chuckwagon Races presented by Dakota Dunes Casino. Racetrack conditions were very good, races were tight, and times were fast. When the sun finally set on Saskatoon, it was Logan Gorst who emerged with the William Joseph Communications top time on the night for the second time in three days with a penalty free run of 1:17.54.

From barrel number three in the seventh heat, Gorst, driving the BCDR Fleet Truck & Trailer Mechanical outfit, was the day money winner by one-tenth of a second over Kirk Sutherland who ran in the same heat. Jason Glass, Layne MacGillivray and Mike Vigen filled out the top five times on the night.

Kurt Bensmiller, driving the Versatile Energy Services Ltd. Outfit have overtaken the lead in the overall aggregate standings with a three-day combined time of 3:53.39. That puts him a mere 3 one-hundredths of a second better than day money winner Logan Gorst, with Layne MacGillivray, Evan Salmond and Jason Glass completing the top five wagons after three nights of running. The top four wagons are separated by less than three-quarters of a second. Doug Irvine and Obrey Motowylo, who were sitting first and third when the day began, each hit barrels, thus taking themselves out of contention for the championship. The driver posting the best 4-day aggregate time after Sunday’s run will be declared the champion of the 2018 Saskatoon World Chuckwagon Races presented by Dakota Dunes Casino.

The final run of the Saskatoon World Chuckwagon Races presented by Dakota Dunes Casino can be heard live on Sunday afternoon, June 10, 2018 at 4:00pm Eastern, 3:00pm Central, and 2:00pm Mountain time on Rural Radio on SiriusXM Channel 147, 96.5 CKFM out of Olds, Alberta or on Country 99 at 99.7 FM out of Bonnyville, Alberta.
