It was a hot Friday night at Prairieland Park in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan for the second day of the Saskatoon World Chuckwagon Races presented by Dakota Dunes Casino. Racetrack conditions were very good once again and times were reasonably fast, and when the times were handed out, Kurt Bensmiller bested the field with the William Joseph Communications top time on the night with a penalty free run of 1:16.99.

From barrel number two in the ninth heat, Bensmiller, driving the Versatile Energy Services Ltd. outfit, was the day money winner by 32 one-hundredths of a second over Doug Irvine who grabbed second place on the night. Codey McCurrach was third, followed by Obrey Motowylo, with Dustin Gorst making out the top five times on the night.

Doug Irvine and his B & R Eckel's Transport Ltd. outfit have now jumped to the top of the overall aggregate standings with a two-day combined time of 2:33.95. That puts him 1.14 seconds better than day money winner Kurt Bensmiller, with Obrey Motowylo, Gary Gorst and Evan Salmond completing the top five wagons after two nights of running. The driver posting the best 4-day aggregate time after Sunday’s run will be declared the champion of the 2018 Saskatoon World Chuckwagon Races presented by Dakota Dunes Casino.

Night 3 of the Saskatoon World Chuckwagon Races presented by Dakota Dunes Casino can be heard live on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 9:00pm Eastern, 8:00pm Central, and 7:000pm Mountain time on Rural Radio on SiriusXM Channel 147, 96.5 CKFM out of Olds, Alberta or on Country 99 at 99.7 FM out of Bonnyville, Alberta.
