It was a successful opening night at Prairieland Park in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan for the sixth running of the Saskatoon World Chuckwagon Races presented by Dakota Dunes Casino. It was a hot and breezy Thursday night under partially cloudy skies with excellent racetrack conditions. When opening night wrapped up, it was Saskatchewan native Logan Gorst who won the William Joseph Communications Fast Time Of The Night with a run of 1:16.29.
From barrel number one in the seventh heat, Gorst, driving the BCDR Fleet Truck & Trailer Mechanical outfit, was the day money winner by 35 one-hundredths of a second over Doug Irvine who settled for second place on the night. Defending champion Gary Gorst was third, Evan Salmond was fourth, with Chad Fike and Obrey Motowylo splitting fifth and sixth on the night.
The driver posting the best 4-day aggregate time after Sunday’s run will be declared the champion of the 2018 Saskatoon World Chuckwagon Races presented by Dakota Dunes Casino.
