Former Chuckwagon/Outrider Jerry Bremner To Be Inducted Into Wetaskiwin and County Sports Hall of Fame

At a ceremony to be held held on Saturday, April 7, 2018, former chuckwagon driver/outrider Jerry Bremner will be inducted into the Wetaskiwin and County Sports Hall of Fame.
Jerry started his chuckwagon racing career as an outrider for his father Roy Bremner's chuckwagon outfit in 1972 with the Northern Chuckwagon Racing Association (NCRA). He began driving in 1984 on the World Professional Chuckwagon Association (WPCA) circuit, and by the time his career ended, he was one of the most decorated chuckwagon champions of all time.
As a chuckwagon driver, Jerry was a three–time World Champion Chuckwagon Driver, a two-time Ponoka Stampede Champion, and was the 1993 Calgary Stampede GMC Rangeland Derby Champion. Among his many victories, Jerry was also a three-time champion of both the Grande Prairie Stompede and North American Chuckwagon Championship.
Jerry will forever be the co–holder of the Calgary Stampede track record on the old track, he had four horses named to the WPCA's Equine Outfit of Excellence, and made eight trips to the GMC Rangeland Derby’s winner–take–all championship final heat. He won the WPCA Clean Drive Award in 2003, was the the WPCA’s Top Rookie Driver in 1984, and was the WPCA’s Most Improved Driver in 1987.
As an outrider, Jerry was the 1986 World Champion Outrider, and outrode for three GMC Rangeland Derby Championship outfits, four Ponoka Stampede Championship outfits and 1 Calgary Stampede Aggregate winner. Jerry drove his last race at the 2015 Calgary Stampede.
