It was another perfect evening for chuckwagon races as night 2 of the Battle of the North at Mile “0” of the Alaska Highway in Dawson Creek, British Columbia was run Thursday evening. Some great races were witnessed by the Dawson Creek fans, and Chanse Vigen took the top time after a penalty free run of 1:13.37. It’s the second consecutive night Vigen won day money as he drove his injured father Mike Vigen’s wagon to first place last night.

From barrel number 4 in the 3rd heat, Vigen’s Driving Force outfit was the top wagon of the night by a large 1.32 second margin over than reigning Bonnyville Chuckwagon Championship Champion John Walters who placed second for the second consecutive night. Rick Fraser’s #2 wagon, which was driven tonight by Chad Harden placed third, injured driver Mike Vigen’s outfit which was driven by Chanse Vigen placed fourth, with Mitch Sutherland completing the top five fastest wagons on the night.

After two runs, John Walters leads the overall aggregate standings with a combined time of 2:29.78. That’s 39 one-hundredths of a second better than injured driver Mike Vigen’s outfit which was driven by Chanse Vigen, with Rick Fraser and Chad Fike making out the top four. Chanse Vigen is just 9 one-hundredths of a second out of that ever so important fourth spot overall. The top 4 drivers in the aggregate after Saturday’s run will go into the winner-take-all championship final heat where the winner will take home a big bonus cheque, and the 2017 Battle of the North Championship.
